Underlight Terminology

Underlight is an enforced roleplaying game, which means that players are not allowed to talk about real life matters while playing. In addition, there are a lot of terms used in game to explain out of character things. You may want to alarm your fellow players of something real life affecting your gameplay, and it is then preferred to use a game term in order to give your character a reason to act this way. There are many examples of this, and getting familiar with them, and using them, makes for a better in game feeling and helps maintain the illusion.

  • Awaken - You wish to stop playing and say you must wake
  • Boundary Mists - Unpassable mists dividing the shards of cloudsbreak, dividing dreamers from eachother in their waking worlds
  • Cloudsbreak - your character's waking world. (not the same as real life)
  • Common tongue/dreamer - The English language. Since England or any other country in the real world does not exist in Underlight, this term is preferred.
  • Dream Standard Time (DST) - The official main timezone for Underlight
  • Elder - game master
  • Newly awakened - New character recently arrived in the game
  • Storm - you experience game lag
  • Stormed - Game client or your PC crashed, kicking you from the game against your intentions
  • Trance - means you're AFK (away from keyboard)
